5 Steps to Your Truck: A Guide to Financing in the USA

Step 1: Pre-Qualification This is the “reconnaissance” stage, which takes from 15 minutes to a couple of hours. At this stage, we determine your basic capabilities.

  • What is required: Information about your experience (CDL), the type of equipment you are looking for, and your approximate credit situation.
  • Result: You receive an understanding of your “budget.” We will tell you immediately whether you qualify for the 0% Down program or if a 10–20% down payment will be required.
  • Important: We do this without a “hard” inquiry (Hard Pull), which could damage your credit score.

Step 2: In-Depth Analysis (Credit & Business Review) At this stage, algorithms and credit reports come into play.

  • FICO & Paynet: We check not only your personal credit score but also the presence of commercial history in Paynet. If it is not there — no problem, we will help you establish it.
  • Time in Business: If your MC/DOT is more than two years old, this opens the door to better rates. For startups (New Authority), we select special support programs.

Step 3: Program Matching (Matching the Marketplace) Capital MBS is not a single bank — it is access to a broad marketplace of lenders. We do not try to “squeeze” you into one program; we make banks compete for you.

  • Selection criteria: Loan term (usually 36–60 months), APR (interest rate), and the possibility of early repayment without penalties.
  • Focus on Paynet: We prioritize those lenders who report your payments to commercial bureaus so that every payment you make increases the value of your company.

Step 4: Underwriting This is the moment when the bank’s credit officer renders the final verdict. This is the most critical part of the process.

  • Asset verification: The bank checks the truck you have chosen (Walmart fleet, Swift, or dealer lot) for clear title, absence of liens, and adequate pricing.
  • Document verification: Tax returns or bank statements for the last 3–6 months may be required.
  • Tip: The faster you provide the documents, the faster this stage moves (usually 24–48 hours).

Step 5: Funding and Receiving the Keys The home stretch. After you have signed the agreement (often done electronically via DocuSign), the magic of numbers happens.

  • Funds transfer: The bank transfers the money directly to the seller (dealer or corporation).
  • Insurance: You arrange insurance (Bobtail, Physical Damage), and we confirm it with the bank.
  • Keys: As soon as the dealer confirms receipt of the funds — the truck is yours. You take the keys and head out on your first run.

Why do Capital MBS clients sleep peacefully? The financing process is full of nuances. A wrongly chosen bank may deny you simply because it does not like the “model year” of the truck, even if your credit is perfect. With Capital MBS you receive:

  1. Transparency: You always know what stage your application is at.
  2. Expertise: We know each lender’s requirements in advance and direct your application only to those where the chances of approval are highest.
  3. Speed: In 2026, time is miles. We shorten the path from the first call to the keys to just a few days.
